Yavapai Regional Medical Center uses LaserVault Reports to reduce their expenditures on greenbar paper.
LaserVault is an easy-to-use alternative to printing and filing paper reports
"We were printing anywhere from 6-7 boxes of green bar paper a week and we wanted to move away from hardcopy printouts and the amount that we were printing," explains Dave Vinson, system administrator at Yavapai Regional Medical Center.
Yavapai Regional Medical Center has been serving the Prescott, Arizona community for more than sixty years. As a community hospital, they are intent on reducing costs and improving service through implementing the latest technology. For that reason, they decided on installing the LaserVault system.
"We paid for the hardware and the software with the reduction in paper costs within six months."
-Dave Vinson,
System Administrator
"We found that, based on the ease of use we saw from the demos, it would save us a lot of money in paper costs. Probably less than six months after we went live we reduced our paper printout from six cases a day to maybe two cases a week.
No Problem for End Users
"From an end user’s perspective, especially if they are on it constantly like I am, they become familiar with it very quickly." Mr. Vinson concludes that "It’s not hard at all to move around and find what you are looking for."
"When we initially bought the software I was doing the training on it as we brought people online. When we had moved practically all of our hardcopy printouts to LaserVault I went in and trained our trainer. Now he does classes probably twice a month and goes through and explains how the whole thing works to our end users."
Management Loves LaserVault
"Our CFO accesses it and our CIO uses it. I think we have the client itself loaded on, give or take, 200-250 PCs. I think we have something like 75 end users defined in the software. One of the nice things about the included NeXtract application is that we run pre-index programs that automatically pull data and then transmit it up to our Web server. That way, we can display web reports for our management people and it’s all automated through a pre-index program that runs on the server every night."
Moving to the Web Version
"We currently have three end users plus myself that are using the Web version. I haven’t done a PC client software upgrade in quite some time due to the fact that the one we are currently on works just fine. The end users that I’ve got running on the Web version are some of our super users. I’d like to try and be on the Web version across the board by the end of 2005."
